If it's any comfort, the term is "stain-less", not "stain-proof". Cutlery and pans will stain, bit not as badly as it used to. One year, we had an exchange student who called those big orange ear protectors "ear-goggles" and that's what they've been at our house ever since. But I'm with you on the "Ear Pollution" business...talk about a brand killer!
