Happy Homemaker Monday

Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather.....  is dreadful, if you will pardon my negativity.  This Summer has been the soggiest and rainiest Summer I've ever had in my entire life. Unfortunately I have not, not even once, danced in the rain.

Right now I am....  I don't think I shall ever be able to read this prompt and not think "writing a blog post" but I shall try to be creative. I'm making a tortilla pizza for my little brother who wasn't very hungry at lunch time but is now experiencing hunger pangs.

Thinking.... That my dear librarian shouldn't have told me that I can access the entire library on their website if only I type in my card number and password. I've requested far too many books as it is. I had to walk away from the computer or I'd have wanted to check out entirely too many.

On my reading pile....
I'm not sure what I was thinking, but I was in the mood for a bit of classic fiction so I walked out of my library with "The Three Musketeers" (the unabridged version too. The very word unabridged sends a shiver of fear and excitement down my back). I've been working on that book for close to two weeks now (I'm regrettably not very dedicated) and I must say I'm enjoying it a lot more than when I first tried to read it two years ago. The humor in the book is such that only the classics contain and for that reason alone I would recommend the book to everyone.

On my TV..... I was extremely delighted when I found my favorite girly movie of all time, Cinderella! I believe I've already said it once before, but I simply can't keep myself from saying it again...I love Lily James and love everything about the movie.

Listening to..... The odd noise that is created when one peels a sticker off of a sticker sheet and the sound of pens being clicked. My sister is in the midst of filling in her planner for this week and I must say it makes me want to fill mine out all over again.

Something fun to share.... Why is it that I can only think of things that aren't fun to share? I can name a few, for example: chocolate (everyone knows chocolate is to be horded, sharing is unheard of); craft supplies (the only reason that craft supplies should ever be shared is if a fellow crafter is in dire need of one of your supplies and then it's your crafter's duty to be helpful); and lastly, books (far too many bad things happen when you share, or loan, a book to someone).

Some interesting bit of news that I have is that I found out that it's ever so much more fun to pass people on a trail when you're riding on a bike than when you're walking. I think it may be because the greeting is fleeting (no rhyming was intended).

Blog hopping (newly discovered blog)....
This isn't a newly discovered blog, but I shall share it anyway since I see no reason not to.

On the menu for this week....
I'm not very sure what we'll be having for the other days but I do know that tonight we shall be having a Mexican themed dinner. As for the rest of the week, I'm assuming we'll be eating food.

On my to do list....
To-do lists are rather depressing. I have a small and quite compact one for each day (it wouldn't be so small but the spots in my planner won't allow for more which I'm fine with) and today's list included doing work, cleaning, school, making a blog-post, and going berry-picking. The blackberries are in full swing so I'm very busy as of late.

In the craft basket....
My craft basket is so overwhelmingly "overflowing" that I'm not sure where to begin. I have some crochet projects, some mending that needs to be done, and a whole lot of journaling supplies I have to sort through.

Looking forward to this week....
This Thursday my brother's fiance is coming over and I'm excited. I do get to see her often but I'm still excited because she's my childhood best friend and before too terribly long I'll be able to call her my sister!

I'm also looking forward to the youth gathering I will be going to, and another trip to the library, and most of all, going to fair which will be starting this Saturday.

Looking around the house.... I see a heap of craft supplies on the school table (happy sighs) and moderately tidy rest of the home. The bouquet of flowers I was gifted after taking part in my cousins wedding is still sitting on our desk. It's remarkable how pretty the flowers are staying considering the fact that I received them over a month ago and that they're real. Perhaps they just dried with their colors still intact.

Bible reading....
I've been reading and journaling my way through my Bible for quite some time now and last night I read the first chapter of Revelations. It's very thrilling for whatever reason to be so close to having read the Bible from cover to cover.

Happy Homemaker Monday

Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather.....   It is with much sorry resignation that I say that Summer has pretty much come to a close now. It is chilly right now, and mizzling (which is a new word I just learned, I suppose I can't help but learn things what with school and all.)

Right now I am....  every single time I read this question I feel tempted to say that I'm writing a blog post, as if you didn't already know it. But I shall try to behave myself, I am ready to create a page in my collage journal, and potentially write a story that I'm pondering.

Thinking....
That it's been far too long since I've made a new post. I knew I was going to spend a lazy Summer, but it was so lazy in fact that I didn't even bother to think up an excuse for me not writing on my dear little blog.

On my reading pile....
I've had to split my reading pile into multiple stacks because it started to teeter and totter most dangerously. I love to read, and I am satisfied with the number of books that I've read this Summer.  I've been reading an odd assortment of books, a bunch of Christian fiction, Historical fiction, war diaries, classical books by Mark Twain, and Dickens, and even a Dave Dawson book that used to be my Dad's favorite when he was a boy.

On my TV..... We girls just finished the World of Dance season, I must say that it was a splendid show, my feelings on the winners won't be disclosed for I feel them to be too snarky for my blog.

Listening to..... It's an old song, "One Step at a Time" by Jordin Sparks. I recently rediscovered that song and listened to it almost daily since then. It's crazy to think that's it's been about a decade since it was produced.

Something fun to share.... Hm, this one requires thought, sometimes I think I can be deathly dull, and right at the moment, I am just one yawn short of deadening.  All seriousness aside, I talked on the phone yesterday, and that's not a big deal at all to anyone other than me, I am utterly terrified of talking on the phone, so when my cousin, whom I know very well called me, I almost fainted, it turns out that talking on the phone isn't that alarming after all, though I was sweating like a moose during it all.

Blog hopping (newly discovered blog)....
I haven't really been doing much of anything related to blogging lately, therefore I have not discovered a new blog.

On the menu for this week....
I definitely hope it's food, sadly every single restaurant I've ever been to had only words on the menu, sometimes, if I'm lucky, they'll have pictures.

On my to do list....
Recently (as in two days ago) I started a to do list again, and my, but it's long. A few of the things on it are very typical, just the usual household chores, and then a few little things like lighting a candle, or baking.

In the craft basket....
My crafting has taken over the space in my room, I have boxes filled with pictures and phrases that I use in my creative and collage journals, and so much yarn, lace, buttons, book cloth, and various other things that I love to use on a weekly basis.

Looking forward to this week....
Since I'm not so sure what our plans are for this week, the thing that I'm looking forward to is Friday, I guess school just does that to a person.

Looking around the house....
I see tidiness. I have no idea if you can technically see tidiness, but I will assume you can. My Mum's brother and his family stopped in for a visit this morning, and there's nothing like an unexpected visit from family to set a house to rights.

Bible verse, Devotional....
This is not just one verse, but rather two. I am just finishing up the book of Jeremiah as I work my way through the Bible, and I thought that this scripture was beautiful.
Jeremiah 17:7-8  Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when the heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

Happy Homemaker Monday

Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather.....  It had been gorgeously sunny a bit ago but right at the moment it's a touch cloudy. Despite the clouds, the thermometer says it's 84.4 outside. Yesterday it was so hot I thought I might faint. (Which I'm beginning to realize isn't romantic at all.)

Right now I am....
Listening to old Tobymac songs as I make a blog post.

Thinking....
That I shall have to write some more in my book today because I have several new ideas that resulted from not being able to fall asleep last night.

On my reading pile....
I am reading a Louis L'amour book, the main character is a girl named Echo, then I'm reading Anne of Green Gables, and lastly, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell.

On my TV.....
Firstly, "I" do not have a TV, and secondly, I'm not watching anything lately though I have a Sherlock Holmes movie that I really want to watch. (I really love Sherlock Holmes.)

Something fun to share....
I'm not certain that this is supposed to be either a bit of news or something tangible that is literally fun to share so I shall do both. A bit of news that I enjoy sharing is that it is considered Summer here, finally! Okay maybe not officially according to the calendar, but according to temperatures I consider it to be Summer.  And secondly something that I enjoy sharing literally is my room. My sister and I share a room and I don't mind it a bit, though it can get messy at times.

Blog hopping (newly discovered blog)....
Hm... I didn't do much of anything this past week concerning blogging, and therefore I did not do much blog hopping, though I did find a new blog (a delightful one at that) called Blue Jeans and Teacups.

On the menu for this week....
You'll actually have to ask my Mum about that. I know that she started a fun challenge for herself where she has to make a different meal every day, no repeats, for the rest of the year, so far it's been awesome but I'm not sure what the menu is for this week though I know she made shrimp, bacon, and corn chowder last night.

On my to do list....
For today I have to clean the stove, make lunch, write in my book, journal, study french (it's coming along as the French would say lentement mais sûrement,) take a walk of sorts outdoors, and anything else that might come up.

In the craft basket....
A bunch of yarn, half finished crochet projects, and several boxes of magazine cuttings that I use in my collage journal.

Looking forward to this week....
Every little moment.

Looking around the house....
I see Sean playing with a pencil, spider plants that need to be watered, and cars scattered across the living room. Other than that everything is tidy.

From the camera....
Pictures. (Sorry for being lame....kinda) I don't have anything special to share today, picture-wise.

Bible verse, Devotional....
My latest Devotional verse was as follows: "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His Righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" Matthew 6:33 I am expecting my next devotional any day now from the club I'm in. I do indeed study my Bible everyday but I only do "specific devotionals" when I get them in the mail.

Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather ~  It was absolutely gorgeous a few days ago but this morning I woke up to drab, rainy, cold, dreary, and pretty much the typical March weather for around my area.

On my reading pile ~ I was reading some Louis L'Amour books, I read several books by Serene Miller, and have reread my favorite nutrition book for who knows how many times now.

Movies or shows I watched this weekend ~  My sister and I watched half of the first movie in the Hobbit series (it's quite a long movie) and we plan to watch the other half this weekend.

On my TV ~  My whole family has not been watching any television at all throughout the day and the only time the telly is on is when my Dad retires into the living room after dinner where he will half listen to baseball as he reads his favorite Louis L'Amour books or does office work.

On the menu for this week ~ My Mum has let me take over the dinner plans for us two since I'm in love with nutrition and she's willing to eat whatever I serve the two of us. My parents go shopping every Thursday so that's just as far as I planned out my menu for this week. Just so you know, I did plan out our breakfasts and lunches too, it's just that the typical thought of menu consists of dinners so that's what I'm listing. My Mum made a much more elaborate menu for everyone else and I'm pretty sure she had different kinds of pies listed on there but this is my little menu plan.

Monday-  Turkey Enchiladas with salad
Tuesday- Quinoa Risotta with broccoli
Wednesday-  Salad with a burger
Thursday-  Cheesy Broccoli soup

On my to-do list ~ Applique, crochet, plan out A-Z blog posts.

What I am sewing, knitting, crocheting, or creating ~ I am working on appliqueing a lap quilt, and want to start crocheting a poncho to wear on the mornings when I'm frozen.

Looking around the house ~ I see my family, and all the proof that they live here in this house.

From the camera ~ I baked s'mores cupcakes to take to my home school group on Saint Patrick's Day. I honestly don't get how they ever came up with the whole pinch whoever is not wearing green idea.. But I do know that a whole bunch of chasing and panicked running occurred that day.

What I'm wearing today ~ A blue Indian cotton skirt, a brown floral t-shirt, and a vintage charm bracelet.

One of my simple pleasures ~ Drinking a nice steaming cup of tea in the evenings with a good book as company.

Bible verse/ Devotional ~ I am part of a Bible mailbox club and I get sent three devotionals on average per month which I look forward to receiving very much, my devotional study for today is called "Dealing with Anger" I have a good few scriptures to study on the subject but their prominent one is James 1:19, 20  "...let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not righteousness of God." I also really like Ephesians 4:31-32
